The soundtrack was nominated for an Academy Award in 1986 and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score. It was selected as the 23rd best film score in American Cinema according to AFI's 100 Years of Film Scores. The music was also used during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
