Jonathan Donahue considered this album to be Mercury Rev's best, and fell into a deep depression after its commercial failure. The album's back cover is a photograph of Donahue despondently loading a revolver.
The video for "Young Man's Stride" was directed by Moby.
The Japanese version includes the bonus track "Cartwheel" 7:06 at track nine. This version of the album is very hard to find.
