The album's title comes from the Devil's Night tradition, recognized in and around Detroit. The album produced two singles: "Purple Pills" and "Fight Music." Devil's Night was also the first album to be released on Eminem's Shady Records label, although the label has been active since 1999.
On the limited edition of the album, a bonus disc is included. At one point during the disc, all members except Eminem, state their favorite tracks on the album. Proof likes 'Blow My Buzz', Kon Artis likes 'Shit Can Happen', Kuniva likes 'That's How...', Bizarre likes 'Pimp Like Me', Swifty likes 'American Psycho', "Eminem" likes "Girls" and although he has not stated it is his favorite, during the disc Eminem often speaks on the track Fight Music.
