Content
A Song represents a piece of music which may or may not have been recorded. It is a more general concept than Musical Track which represents a particular recording of a song, as recorded on a particular Musical Album or albums. For instance there is only one song “Night and Day,” but there are many Musical Tracks with that title. If a particular song has only been recorded once, or there is a definitive recording of that song, one instance may be both a Song and a Musical Track; e.g., “Yesterday.” Currently, some classical works such as symphonies or sonatas may be represented as songs; this is inaccurate, but is temporary until classical music is better-defined within this domain.Note: currently Songs are returned in general search, and Musical Tracks are not. Tracks can be found linked from Musical Albums.
