EDINA is the UK national academic data centre based at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Designated by JISC on behalf of the UK funding bodies for research and education, EDINA has the mission "to enhance research, learning and teaching" by developing and delivering online services that are 'free at the point of use' by students and staff at UK universities in universities and colleges. It is nationally and internationally recognised for the services it provides and the high quality applied research it undertakes in ICT.
It was designated in 1995, based upon Edinburgh University Data Library which itself was established in 1983.
