While Scully is missing, Mulder investigates a series of vampire-like deaths in Los Angeles. In Los Angeles an older man has an affair with a woman he met at a party. While in a pool with her he is brutally killed by her and another man. Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) returns to his office in the basement, switching the calendar to November and putting away Scully's glasses and badge in a new X-File, labeled 'Scully, Dana'. Mulder heads to Los Angeles where he investigates the vampire-like death of the man. Mulder tells the investigator at the crime scene that he's seen these types of killings three months earlier and that they'll kill two more by the end of the month.
