"The Prince and the Paupers" is a first-season episode of The Monkees television series. The title is based on that of the Mark Twain novel The Prince and the Pauper. It first aired February 6 1967 on NBC as the 21st episode of the series; it was repeated October 3, 1970, March 13, 1971, March 25, 1972 on CBS. The Monkees come to the aid of a shy young Peruvian prince, who must find a bride or forfeit his throne to an evil count. The moptop mayhem focuses on David, a dead ringer for the prince. Elsewhere in the palace, the evil count and his assistant strive to keep said prince single--even kill him should it become necessary! Monkees in the Ring
