Ian Gallagher is a fictional character in the Channel 4 drama Shameless, played by Gerard Kearns. He was 15 at the beginning of the first series (2004) and is the third oldest of the Gallagher siblings (and the second oldest boy). Ian was believed to be Frank's second son until a trip to the hospital for Liam revealed that Ian's blood group was different from Frank's, leading to the discovery of Gary Bennett being his real father. During series 1-4, Ian shares a bedroom his younger brother Carl and older brother Lip. He has frequent fights with Lip but they usually make up shortly afterwards.
