"Gethsemane" is the fourth season finale of the science fiction television series The X-Files. The episode first aired in Canada and the United States on the Fox network and subsequently aired in the United Kingdom on Sky1. Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) discovers the ultimate proof of extraterrestrial life while Dana Scully’s (Gillian Anderson) cancer gets worse, but she may not be the agent whose life is over.
As the episode begins, a body lays wrapped up on the floor of Mulder's apartment. There is no name mentioned as to who the dead body is, but Scully confirms its identity and leaves. The rest of the episode is seen as a flashback, as Scully is explaining past events to a committee led by Section Chief Blevins reviewing her work with Mulder on the X-Files.
