"The Lorelais' First Day at Chilton" is the second episode of the first season of the television show Gilmore Girls. It￢ﾀﾙs Rory￢ﾀﾙs first day at Chilton, and Lorelai wakes up an hour and a half late. She is forced to throw on random clothes because she was going to pick up her dry cleaning early, so she ends up looking like she￢ﾀﾙs from the Dukes of Hazzard. Rory informs her that they have to go and meet with the headmaster, and Lorelai begins to panic. However, they are met by a nice man named Ian Jack, who has a daughter named Julia who also goes to Chilton, and he flirts with Lorelai, giving her enough self confidence to go into the office. Once inside, however, Rory and Lorelai are met by none other than Lorelai￢ﾀﾙs mother, Emily Gilmore. She apparently knew the Headmaster and wanted to put a good word in for Rory. This later leads to yet another argument between Lorelai and her mother, accentuated by the fact that Lorelai can￢ﾀﾙt even match her own clothes. Rory, meanwhile, talks to the Headmaster, who informs her that she most likely will fail at Chilton, but if she succeeds she￢ﾀﾙll be well on her way to achieving her goals of becoming a journalist like Christine
