Con-Text is a second season episode of the television series Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
In this episode, Detectives Goren and Eames investigate the case of two low-rent criminals found slain and dumped on a field.
During the investigation, Goren and Eames discover some depleted hidden bank accounts. The finger of suspicion immediately points to the son and half-brother of the victims, who also had his mind warped by a self-improvement guru. They suspect that this man exploited a fragile disciple by convincing him to commit the crimes for profit.
Even though the detectives arrest their prime suspect, they cannot make a case against the motivational speaker. Then, Goren is forced to elaborate an unorthodox approach to discover whether the chief suspect was coerced into carrying out the murders.
This episode revealed some resemblances with the controversial case of Lisa McPherson.
In the episode, Goren uses an analogy of the Charles Manson's family, the way his followers looked at him, after seeing the suspect eyeing someone as he caught on camera, taking a significant amount of money out of a bank account.
