Content
A Musical Track is a single recorded track on a Musical Album or Musical Release—typically
a recording of a song, though it may be a movement of a symphony or
other partial work. It should correspond to the tracks on a track
listing of an LP, cassette, or CD if the track was ever on an album.A
track should be a unique recording, but may appear on multiple albums
or releases; for instance, an artist may release a track on one album,
and then have that exact recording show up on a “Greatest Hits” album,
a movie soundtrack, and a collection of best songs of the year. In that
case, the exact same track instance should be used for each album.However,
different recordings of the same song should not be considered the same
track; if an artist issues an alternate take on a box set, for
instance, or a version on a live album, those should be considered
different tracks. See also the documentation for Song.Properties Song: expects Song;
if this track is a recording of a song either previously recorded or
which exists independently outside of recorded music (as a traditional
or classical piece), this property may point to it. However, if this is
the definitive or only recording of a song, it isn’t necessary to
create a separate topic for the song.Appears On: expects Musical Album; the album or albums on which this track appears. Note that a track is not a song; multiple albums should only appear here if the exact same recording is used on multiple albums.Recorded by: expects Musical Artist;
if this track appears only on albums by a particular artist, it is not
necessary to reiterate the artist here. However, if the track appears
on any multi-artist compilations, or is actually by a different artist
than the one credited with the album, this should point to that artist.Length: expects Floating Point Number; the length of the track in seconds.Buy or download Web page: expects Webpage;
a page where one can download or buy the complete song (not just a
sample). This is not for pages related to the track, such as lyrics
pages; these belong in the genaral Web page property, or perhaps
(depending on the nature of the Web page) associated with the song
rather than the track.
