Battleground: Fantasy Warfare is a point-based miniatures game, but without the miniatures. Battleground uses cards rather than painted models to represent your forces. This means a much lower price as well as easier transportation and setup, but don’t be fooled – this is not a “light” war game or a CCG. Battleground is a serious, award-winning war game that will challenge you at every step, from army design and deployment to tactical maneuvers and command decisions until battle’s end.

Battleground Fantasy Warfare cards are available for a number of different armies.  Each army is sold as two decks of cards.  Battleground Fantasy Warfare is not a collectible game though, each deck of cards is identical.  The starter deck includes a selection of the primary units for the army, some command cards, and a couple of army reference cards.  The reinforcement deck contains additional copies of the units from the starter deck as well as some new units for your army.  Once you have purchased both the starter and the reinforcement decks you have purchased everything you will need to play the game with your chosen army.  In all fairness, you can make a pretty decent army without ever purchasing the reinforcement deck.

The following armies are currently available for Battleground Fantasy Warfare:
Two accessory packs are available for the game: a Scenario Booklet and a Terrain Pack.
