With Alan Moore's approval, his "For the Man Who Has Everything" story, published in Superman Annual #11 (1985), was adapted for the animated series. Among the main differences are Robin¬タルs absence and a simplifying and lightening of the Krypton fantasy, removing many of the dystopian elements. In this animated version, Kal-El is married to Loana (a combination of Lana Lang and Lois Lane, voiced by Dana Delaney who regularly voiced the latter in the Bruce Timm animated shows), and they only have one child, a son named Van-El. Instead of being the supervillain he is in reality, Brainiac is a household robot. Krypto is also the family pet.
