A woman walks in the Veteran Affairs hospital, closing all the curtains around her brother's (an amputee Iraq war veteran) bed and reluctantly hands him a syringe of penabarbitol. David's fears and grief over Nate's death take over his life with recurring nightmares and visions of a demon in a red hooded jacket stabbing Durell. The final straw for David is when Keith tells him to go away for a few days to recover from his grief after David suddenly takes Anthony and Durrell home from school early when he spotted a car that was similar to the serial killer's description he heard about on the radio.
