"Evan" is the twenty-first episode of Miami Vice's first season Crockett and Tubbs are investigating Guzman, an Argentinian weapon-dealer, who is selling dangerous MAC-10 in Miami. Undercover, they arrange an interview with him, only to find out that his aide is Evan Freed (William Russ), an ex-colleague and ex-friend of Crockett's, who is also working undercover for the ATF. Tubbs notices that Crockett is obviously bitter to Freed. Crockett reluctantly tells the whole story to Tubbs. It turns out that Freed, Crockett and another young policeman, Mike Orgell, were best friends. The friendship ended when Freed and Crockett discovered that Orgell was gay. While Freed scorned Orgell all the time, Crockett just ignored him. Before Crockett could cope with the situation, Orgell was killed in action. Freed tries to restart his friendship with Crockett, but Crockett is not very sure, since Freed shows an unstable personality. At the final meeting with Guzman, the dealer tries to kill... less
