B.J. wakes up to a baby's crying. When Charles goes to investigate he finds a little baby girl with a note explaining that the mother cannot take care of her and that the father is a GI who has left her. The camp is quite taken with the baby. Everyone except Father Mulcahy tells the camp that the baby will be ostracized by the Korean locals, and tells them horror stories about how mixed race children are treated. He tells them that the best idea would be to drop her off at one of the old Catholic missions, but the camp rejects this idea.
