Mills released his first EPs in 1996 and 1997, and signed to Chicago indie label Sugar Free Records in 1998. A tour in England followed his 2000 release, Kiss It Goodbye. After two albums, Mills was dropped from the label, and his most recent work has been released on his own label, Powerless Pop Records. He toured nationally in 2002 to support The Silver Line and toured England in 2005, following this with an American tour opening for Lucero.
