Captain Lewis Nixon, officer of the 506th Infantry Regiment (101st Airborne Division) during World War II - most of the time attached to "E" (Easy) Company, but for some period moved up to the battalion staff. Best friend of fellow officer Richard Winters, who eventually takes over as Easy Company commander.
