Neville Hope (born April 23, 1958) was a fictional character from the television series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. Portrayed by Kevin Whately, Neville featured in every series from 1983-2005. Neville is constantly under the thumb of his formidable wife Brenda. He constantly worries about the welfare of his wife and three children, and his heart in Newcastle. He married young and has no regrets about it, although in the third series he is clearly suffering from a mid life crisis. For example: Neville opens the dialogue in Series 1, Epidode 1 by saying "Dearest Brenda". He is in fact, standing on the deck of a cross channel ferry, en route to Germany, writing a postcard to his wife. Throughout Series 1, Neville continues to write home or phone home at regular intervals. Neville is sensitive and naive, he is a geordie lad at heart.
