It was the third (and to date last) national series to bear the title, and as was the case with the previous incarnation this series was completely unconnected to the ones that came before.
The series debuted with Gene Rayburn as host, however he was replaced on December 16 of that year due to a production dispute with the producers. Rayburn was replaced by Joe Farago, who had previously been one of the participants for some stunts in the Prize Vault round.
Kandace Kuehl was the co-host for the first week of the series and was then replaced afterward with 1983 Miss USA winner Julie Hayek. Voice-over artist Michael Hanks was the announcer.
