On a tip, Mulder and Scully visit the infamous Area 51, where a strange event swaps the personalities of Mulder and a shadowy government agent named Morris Fletcher. Although Scully and everyone else sees Mulder, inside he is really Fletcher, and vice versa. While Mulder begins exhibiting strange characteristics which include cooperation with Assistant Director Kersh and sexual provocation, the real Mulder must cope with his new life in which he has a nuclear family with a troubled marriage and two teenage kids. Mulder works to convince Scully of his true identity, while Fletcher plots to destroy Mulder and his work.
