The 2008 Men's Olympic Volleyball Tournament was the twelfth edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB in conjunction with the IOC. It was held in Beijing, China from August 10 to August 24, 2008.
The top four teams in each Preliminary Round Pool will advance to the Quarterfinals, eight teams in total.
The format will be as follows:

A Drawing of lots will determine the opponents of teams A2 and A3 and decide which of these two teams will play against B2 and which one shall meet B3.
* The Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament is combined with the World Olympic Qualification Tournament 3. The winner of the tournament will qualify as the champion of the World Olympic Qualification Tournament 3 while the best Asian team except the winner will qualify as the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament champion.
