"Century" is the first single taken from The Long Blondes' second album, "Couples". It was released on March 24, 2008 via Rough Trade Records as a limited edition 2-track 7" vinyl-only issue. "Century" is the first single taken from The Long Blondes' second album, "Couples". It was released on March 24, 2008 via Rough Trade Records as a limited edition 2-track 7" vinyl-only issue. The promotional video for "Century" was directed by Minsu Song, a second year student on a Graphic Design course at Central St. Martins. The video is the first example of a new collaboration between Rough Trade and CSM, where students compete to pitch ideas for a designated track. The b-side to "Century", "The Unbearable Lightness of Buildings", was written specifically for Tate Modern as part of their 12-week long Tate Tracks that was held at the beginning of April 2007. The idea was that Tate invited The Long Blondes to walk around the gallery and find a work of art that would inspire them to write a song.
