This is a trilingual opera in two acts by Lorenzo Ferrero on a libretto by the composer and Frances Karttunen written between 2002 and 2004. It depicts the major episodes of the Spanish conquest of Mexico in 1521 and the subsequent destruction of the Aztec civilization.
