Astronomers often use M⊕ and R⊕ in describing the relationship between these few planets discovered so far and the nearest comparable local planetary body, our home world (these measurements are more often used in our local solar system for celestial objects like Mars and Venus). Might be hopeful thinking, but there is great anticipation in discovering the first earth-like planet that might support non-terrestrial life.
