Jon plans to take a break from studying for a Spanish test by watching television, but the station appears to only show static. After he leaves the room, Garfield watches the same station but inputs a code on the remote control that activates the Cat Channel. On the show Keep Purring, the host states five things that cats must do every day, the last of which is to sit on something a human is interested in, and refusing to move.
Garfield realizes that he hasn’t done this, so he sits on Jon’s Spanish book and doesn’t move from it. Jon tries to remedy this by first pretending to leave the house; then cooking food for Garfield; then trying to catapult Garfield off the book. Jon then steals a bulldozer and crashes through the house, which releases Garfield from the book but also destroys the house. Herman asks if insurance will pay for the home repairs; Jon then goes to his desk for the insurance...
