Content

A solid material is a substance that is solid at standard temperature and pressure. Different mixtures of the same general material, say brass, are considered to be different materials. Different condition of this mixture, for example, annealed versus tempered, are considered to be the same material. Since some of these properties vary with the condition of the material, properties such as yield strength are reported in different condition. Hardness and strengh specifications are also given in different ways according to how they are measured. Measurements are assumed to be standard temperature and pressure, unless specifically specified otherwise.
