The M's was an American indie rock band from Chicago.
The M's was formed in 2000 by Josh Chicoine, who had previously been a member of local group Sanoponic. After Sanoponic's dissolution, he began working on new material with fellow Sanoponic member Steve Varshaw, as well as Varshaw's roommates, Joey King and Robert Hicks. The Chicago venue Martyr's called Chicoine with the intent of booking the band, and Chicoine decided to book the show with his new collaborators, who began playing regularly together in 2001. Their debut EP appeared in 2002, followed by a full-length in 2004. They signed with Polyvinyl Record Co. for their 2006 and 2008 releases. The group decided to go into "a long hiatus" on March 6th, 2009.
