This is an opera in one act by Italian composer Lorenzo Ferrero on a libretto by Giuseppe Di Leva written in 1985, which is conceived to be performed in tandem with Pietro  Mascagni's "Cavalleria rusticana." It outlines in short, graphic scenes the network of intrigue between Sicilian independence activists, Mafia, and State that surrounds, and eventually destroys, the bandit hero. The opera was premiered at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma on January 25, 1986.
