Manhattan assistant district attorney Kyle Vance is found shot dead in a cemetery, but there is no bullet except for pieces of paper left in the wound. Stella commented upon arriving at the scene "One minute you're mourning your loved one, the next minute they're mourning you". Mac immediately suspects foul-play and Vance's open briefcase suggests that someone who Vance had previously prosecuted might have done it out of revenge. In another case, a dead woman is found blind folded and with her hands bound behind her back on her bed. As investigation is underway, it is found that the woman sued multiple restaurants.
