Hello,
I am the author and creator of the Wikipedia article about Frickets. I wrote, host and manage fricket.org. On the topic of "Trade Names", Fricket is a meld of the word Frisbee and Cricket; true. However, the legacy and acceptance of the name Frisbee as a category is the attempt at gaining popularity for the game NOT promoting the brand Frisbee. In fact it’s the exact opposite! Wham-o has the trade name and is diligent on protecting their name when used against competing products. But do they mirror their efforts on circumstance like thos one? NO! the use it to their advantage. I ask you, what about the small company disc manufacturers that can’t use the “word” Frisbee? Yet by popularity that is the term accepted most. The category is Flying Disc.
May I request that you please remove the promotion of Wham-o from this article!? I travel the country playing disc (ultimate and disc golf) and promoting my wears. In doing so, I promote the game Fricket more than anyone else in the world. I am the creator of the night version of Fricket in hopes that anyone can play the game with any disc of choice NOT just a Frisbee! Free the world from trade name diabolical ownership.
Thanks for listening.
Jeff Scott
