This is a "show" opera in one act written in 1985 by Lorenzo Ferrero on a libretto by the composer, after the "Hymnen an die Nacht" by Novalis. The texts evoking the birth of the son of the night are set for a madrigalian ensemble and interwoven with rapid cinematic references of metropolitan night-life. The premiere which took place at the Marstalltheater of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich on November 8, 1985 had a substatial contribution from Gianna Nannini.
