The Seasons

The Seasons is a series of four paintings created by Nicolas Poussin around 1660-1664. Painted toward the end of Poussin's life, the four canvasses are considered to be a statement about man's relationship with nature.  Formerly displayed in the Grande Galerie of the Louvre, the four paintings now hang in another room devoted solely to the The Seasons.
