Photographer Edie Durant (Robin Tunney) loses her fiancé, Alec Lehane (Martin Christopher), in a car crash. After a year of grieving, her friend Shawn (Malik Yoba) urges her to resume her photography, in the hopes that this will help her move on. While visiting Alec's grave, Edie takes pictures at the cemetery, but upon developing the film, she discovers one picture is of the dream house by the sea Alec had promised her. She takes more pictures and more negatives mysteriously appear, showing the house being improved and Alec being at it. Edie finds the house and in her pictures of it, it becomes fully furnished. Drawn to the house one day when her photos are being displayed in a gallery exhibit, Edie abandons her friends and goes to the house, expecting to find Alec there, waiting for her.
