In Twilight, Phil travels constantly playing minor league baseball, so he spent a majority of his time away from his new family. Because of this, Bella chose to move to Forks with her biological father, Charlie Swan, to give Renée and Phil time to be together.
Eventually, Phil was able to get a contract signed with the Suns, a minor league baseball team in Jacksonville, and he and Renée moved there together.
In Eclipse, Phil attempted to demonstrate a slide and tangled up with the catcher and broke his thigh bone, causing he and Renée not to be able to attend Bella's graduation.
His only appearance in Breaking Dawn was when he attended Bella and Edward's wedding.
