Confirmed by the Senate, he is also Deputy Director for Management of the Office of Management and Budget in the federal government of the United States. Zients is a native of Kensington, Maryland and lives in the Washington, D.C. area. He and his wife Mary have four children. He earned a bachelor's of science degree at Duke University summa cum laude. Zients worked in management consulting for Mercer Management Consulting and Bain & Company and then was chief operating officer of DGB Enterprises.
