The Chester County Courthouse is a government building of Chester County located in the county seat of West Chester, Pennsylvania. The Chester County Courthouse is a government building of Chester County located in the county seat of West Chester, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 5, 1972. It was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in July 1958. The Chester County Courthouse was built in 1846 and was designed by Thomas U. Walter. Walter also designed the dome of the United States Capitol. The construction of the courthouse cost $55,346 (1.34 million in 2009 dollars). A 50 by 135 feet (15 m × 41 m) addition, designed by T. Roney Williamson and constructed from Indiana Limestone, was added in 1893. Another addition was added in 1966. less
