How do you get the grey bar on the left of a subject to appear?

I'm not sure what you're referring to here, ploughstar. What page are you looking at, where you want there to be a grey bar on the left of a subject?

Just trying to get these guys to appear in Tune Up. Lenedra Carroll appears relating to her solo tracks. The combo doesn't work. The only difference I can see in Browse is the grey bar.

That grey bar (I assume you mean in the upper left where it says Music, Author, and Person) only exists when we have information from multiple Freebase Commons on the topic. For the topic you're interested in, all the information comes from the Music Commons, so there's no need to put that little menu there.
As for how to get it to show up in TuneUp, I have no idea, I'm afraid. Does TuneUp provide any help on that subject?

TuneUp are unforthcoming re how exactly they access Freebase.
But it was TuneUp that made me aware of Freebase, and even persuaded me to contribute indirectly. I'm guessing there's a lot of other people like me who might get drawn in this way.

I'm sure you're right. I'm going to look into whether we can collaborate with TuneUp on putting together some help pages for people in your situation. Though not til next week, at least. Hopefully we can figure it out.
