"The actor Otto Kullberg is the kind of guy women love and men like. He occasionally drinks too much and when he screws up a day of shooting and threatens to drop of his new film, a younger colleague is engaged to make backups of all the scenes. Otto, a loudmouthed attention-seeker, must now reassert his role in the film. His private life is also in a tangle: during his first film, a love story developed between him and his present co-actress Bettina, who is now the current director’s wife. Does cinema and reality really mix? Nobody wants to be a loser in the battle of the actors… In this melancholic comedy, director Andreas Dresen and screenplay writer Wolfgang Kohlhaase portray loneliness, aging and the telling of little and big lies with light, laconic humour."
