On 16 August 2006, the Kiko team decided to put the site up for auction on eBay, starting at $49,999.99. The auction ended on 26 August and was won by a bid of $258,100.00. Ten days later, Tucows revealed that they were the high bidder. There were in total 111 bid placed by 9 bidders.
