I stumbled across Freebase while experimenting with the Google Docs & Spreadsheets Script Editor. The idea of organising the relationships between topic of human knowledge is an idea that in the back of my mind, I always thought was fantastic. Unfortunately, I've never had the gumption or time resources to do anything with it.
I now work in healthcare and have experience in the service, financial and IT worlds. I want to contribute to Freebase because I believe that the experience will help me become better prepared for a career in IT at my employer and because I want to volunteer some of my spare time in a way that is constructive and that utilises the skills I have acquired in my current lifestyle. I want my contributions to help centralise and unite human knowledge and information. I believe that once the basic essentials are met, the most empowering thing you can give a person is knowledge. My goal is to empower the masses.
